Recruitment Start-up, Ferris Slater, Raises £50,000 to Fund Growth

The successful funding round promotes the buoyancy of the UK economy and especially the recruitment sector, with all parties involved in the funding acquisition exhibiting high confidence. Parties contributing to the funding round include peer-to-peer crowdfunding, current shareholders, and Barclays.


Ferris Slater offer recruitment & consultancy services to niche sectors within the UK, including, commercial operations, IT sales, cyber-security, and accounting & finance. Incorporated in January 2018, they had already received investment of over £40,000 to fund the setup of the company which included showpiece office acquisition, employee & director wages, and much more.

The new funding will be leveraged to acquire three new recruitment consultants, taking the Ferris Slater team to 6 in total.


Speaking about the funding, Jonathan Slater, Managing Director & Founder, said;

“It’s rare to see a recruitment start-up generate so much confidence and interest, so we’re delighted to announce this news. You need a great foundation, an exceptional employee value proposition, and good financial backing to be able to attract talented recruiters, and now we’ve got all three. We’ll be using the investment straight away to onboard 3 very talented recruiters who can hit the ground running.”

“What we’re trying to create is vastly different to the status quo. The biggest difference is our ‘Results-Only Work Environment’ which has really caught the eye, allowing employees to work how, when, and from where they see best. This really suits mature and experienced recruiters and it’s allowed us to attract some amazing talent already.”

The ‘results-only work environment’ has been utilised by companies such as Google, GitHub, & Apple to great success. The environment allows for home working, unlimited annual leave, no set working hours, complete autonomy & accountability, and self-set KPI’s monitored by either themselves or colleagues. The office is open 24/7 and the integration of work & life is promoted.

This style of management has not been widely seen or reported on within the recruitment sector, as it takes flexible working arrangements to the next level and relies on complete trust of employees. Most employers choose to avoid this model due to the risk involved, but recent surveys show increases staff retention and performance when implemented correctly.
